Recently me and my boyfriend visited Center Parc's at Whinfell Forest for four nights! I wanted to speak about my experience staying at Whinfell. Me and my boyfriend were going to go abroad however with the recent heatwave we decided to stay in the UK and have some British fun! I haven't been to Center Parcs since I was tiny so I was so excited! Here's my Experience :
We ended up getting a good deal from the 2nd July - 6th July in their Executive Double Studio Apartment. We did panic and when I tweeted about it - as did others. I have just turned 20 in June as you will have seen and my boyfriend is turning 21 in September - When we tried booking the holiday it showed us that we had to be over 21 - Which neither of us where. But when I eventually got through to their help desk I was told that we could go and book ourselves, however only stay in the Studio's! Which we were happy about as they fitted into our budget perfectly! So in the end after me panicking my butt off it worked out okay in the end.
We ended up taking a lot of our own foods as I don't mind cooking, it will save us money and it was practical in the long run. That's one thing I would highly advise if you are going to Center Parcs - If you are wanting to save some money and do really enjoy cooking, take your own food! It makes it very fun and playful if you are wanting to cook. It's a good tip for bonding between your pals or partner!
I wanted to speak a little about what we did whilst we were there ; if I would recommend them or not.
Monday : We drove and arrived early at around 1pm, went to lunch at Starbucks on site at Whinfell! Remember to take your reusable cup and reusable straw! Unpacked the car into our apartment, picked up the bikes up on the way back round, went for a bike ride then went swimming!
Tuesday : We spent the morning going on a walk and a bike ride and spent four hours in the pool! I absolutely adore being in the pool and swimming so this to me was heaven! Every day being in the pool was so incredible! I miss it so much now i'm home!
Wednesday : We had a lie in most days, but today we had one and got up later on and went bowling (which was £29 for an hour). We didn't mind paying the price as it can be that much in some places in the UK! So it wasn't too outrageous! In the afternoon after a draw when bowling we went Kayaking / Canoeing (Which was £10.50) and oh my lord that was a laugh!
Thursday : We had a chill day on our last full day at Center Parcs and did our usual Walk and Bike ride and went swimming for hours! Oh and we also went mini golfing which was £7.75 each, it was so good! It was so funny and I was appalling of course... Got home and packed up as we knew we had to check out at 10am on Friday!
Friday : We checked out, packed the car up and went to Windermere for a few hours to see it whilst we were up the country! Then we came home, very sad to leave - I miss swimming every day!
Throughout our stay we rented bikes when we payed for our hotel which was £30 for each bike, making it £60 for both bikes. Which I would recommend as it really helped when you didn't want to walk anywhere and it was so funny to bike around. We did three activities whilst we were there ; Bowling which was £29, Kayaking which was £10.50 and Mini Golf which was £7.75 each for 18 holes! I would highly recommend them all as they were all so fun to take part in, especially kayaking. The prices were very good from what I was expecting - the activities were worth the penny. So if you are looking to go again and thinking do I spend on the activities or not? I would say 100% yes! Especially if you have kids or you are a 20+ year old who acts like a child!
The last time I went to Center Parcs I was so young and can't remember it at allllll, so I am so glad I went but now I've got the buzz for Center Parcs and want to go whenever I can because it was so good! It was really worth the money, the weather was so nice for us and was beautiful and so sunny, i've come back tanned looks like I've been abroad not in the UK! Every break I have from now on makes me wish I can go to Center Parcs each time because it was so incredible and really worth the money. Sounds like i'm being payed to speak about how amazing it was but i'm really not! We payed for every single thing we payed for - before anyone says!
I spent / We spent most of our time swimming / walking / playing uno and eating. Me especially eating Fruit Gums I ate 4 packets in one day, Holiday Bod am I right? It was so nice to spend just me and my boyfriend with no-one else and just spend quality time together with each other. Times like that are hugely appreciated. I used to play UNO so much as a child however I hadn't played it for a long time due to me being busy with uni and growing up and so on! Matt hadn't played it in so long so it was so funny to play together and I actually won a lot? I'm proud of myself!
The Apartment Room was so lovely, so spacious - you didn't feel like you were on each others toes. We had a dishwasher, fridge, cupboard space, microwave, oven and all the essentials! The dishwasher was emptied every morning if we had left it full the previous night, fresh towels, bed made and general housekeeping! It was the small touches which I highly appreciated. Hence the word Executive, we definitely got that within our price. We had so many places to sit and eat each night was like ok the bed? the table? or the sofa? most nights we actually went for the table - wow check us out!
Overall, we had the best time at Center Parcs Whinfell Forest - it's surroundings, staff, food selection, activities and everything was incredible. The customer service with checking in and out was excellent. I honestly have no complaints whatsoever I cannot wait to return in the future and hopefully to their other areas! We went to Whinfell Forest which is in Cumbria, but they also have : Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire, Elveden Forest in Suffolk, Woburn Forest in Bedfordshire and Longleat Forest in Wiltshire. They all look absolutely beautiful. At the end of this post I will leave details of upcoming prices for where we stayed and other places if you are wanting to go - I hope this post convinces you! We decided to go to Whinfell Forest as I have been to Cumbria and the surrounding places before and loved the surroundings, so we knew if we ever went out for the day we had the beautiful places like Windermere to explore if we wished to! If you are driving to Center Parcs the check in for cars is so simple and secure - I wasn't worried about leaving my car unattended for 5 days at all, and I usually would be!
Center Parcs you were wonderful, I can't wait to visit you again and spend even more time with the person I adore! Thanks for bringing us together and bringing out the inner child of the both of us!
